Transformation: Product #3

So far we covered EYES, LIPS in this transformation and now its time for.......CHEEKS!

One of the most important rules of makeup is  there are NO rules. You can do what you want to, mix colors together and take risks. It's all about experimenting!

I love using a highlighter to just brighten up any look!

My favorite is by theBalm, it looks amazing on anyone and just a little bit can change a whole look.

Can the packaging get any cuter!

Highlighter, eyeshadow and shimmer ALL in this compact.

Here is a swatch of the Mary-Lou Manizer! The texture is super smooth and creamy and the  shade is super versatile.

Here are my models rocking their looks with the complete transformation!

Three products can make a great difference, but there may be a few more products you may need.... which I will be featuring tomorrow!

Transformation: Product # 2

"Beauty, to me, is about being comfortable in your own skin. That, or a kick-ass red lipstick."
                                                                                                                                    -Gwyneth Paltrow

Hope you enjoyed my last post about transforming eyes using the NAKED2 palette. Continuing with the transformation the next stop takes us to LIPS!

Adding color to your lips can add a touch of confidence and passion.

Bold lipstick can look intimidating, but the key is to find a shade that makes you comfortable. I like to stick with colors without shimmer. Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics has a huge selection of lip tars  which have enough pigmentation to be a lipstick but can be easily applied like lipgloss. Can that get any easier? I don't think so!

The OCC lip tar I used with this look is called Vintage, but they have many colors. The best part is the consistency which is super easy to mix and formulate your own colors!

In combination with the lip tar I just used a lip brush and a lip liner to perfect the look. I think my models look great with their bold look! What do you think?

What's your favorite lip color and have you ever tried OCC lip tars?

Hope you are enjoying my transformation segment! Can you guess what tomorrows post will be about?

Transformation: Product # 1

Makeup can sometimes give the biggest boost of confidence with such little effort. All you need to know is WHAT to use.

I decided to focus on a few products  to transform my sister and my cousin and of course they were ready to play dress up.

First stop: EYES
The key to picking out makeup is to use products that look great on everyone whether it's for a night out or just for a causal day of shopping.

The NAKED 2 palette by Urban Decay is just that. Neutral colors with some matte, shimmer and glitter.

Here are my lovely models:

                                        Before                                                             After

                                            Before                                                      After

I used Half Baked (golden-bronze with shimmer finish) all over the lid, Chopper (copper shimmer with small chunks of silver) on the outer corner and Bootycall (shimmering cork) in the inner corner.

I used the same colors on both my sister and my cousin and it looked stunning on both. Despite different skin tones and eye shapes they can both work it for a flawless look which can easily be transitioned from day to night. The texture of the eyeshadows are like butter easy to blend and yet so pigmented even my little sister can easily put them on herself.

To complete the look I just added some mascara and eyeliner for a bit bolder look.

I use this palette on a daily basis on any occasion with any outfit. It is quick, easy and so much fun to experiment with. If you are looking to build your collection I strongly recommend the Urban Decay NAKED2 palette.

Stay tuned for the next stop of the makeup transformation!

Learning is ART

It was Monday morning and I had a brief interview with the program manager from Startup Institute, where she presented two very simple yet intricate questions.

What I want to learn? & Who I want to learn it from?

These questions had always been in my mind but to answer them was a challenge. Could the list ever end? Where do I start? As I paced around pondering, it finally came to me…I want to learn everything from everyone, the good, the bad and the ugly.

What I want to learn?
To utilize not only knowledge but resources presented to me to make a greater change to society.
How I can communicate with individuals with various experiences to innovate new ideas and present them in such a way that captivates the audience’s attention.
To love to learn from my mistakes, and to grow through the risks I can potentially take.
To learn how to  think from not only inside of the box but also from the outside as well and combine it as one perspective.

Who do I want to learn it from?
Individuals who are inspired by Steve Jobs, Mark Zuckerberg, Sergey Brin and Larry Page, they innovated such ideas that truly transition people’s idea of “the want” to “the need”.  Facebook, Apple and Google continue to grow not because these founders decided to create their artwork, publish it and retire. These individuals continued to take risks and learn from their mistakes as they stay not one or two steps ahead of society but ample strides ahead to ensure that they are the change to society.
I also want to make sure I learn from individuals who had taken risks and failed.  Learning is closely related to art and although some think failure is the end of the world, I believe failure is just a reason for to start on bigger and better blank canvas.

Thanks for reading! Keeep learning!

One of the best nights!

One Republic was a band I heard on the radio here and there, but it wasn't until I went to their concert I fell in love with them. Ryan Tedder performed with such passion it was unbelievable. They all did an amazing job! I can't stop listening to them. If you ever get an opportunity to see them I highly encourage it!

It is crazy to think how music can just bring thousands of people together no matter what their background or personality. Seeing everyone with such a calm peace of mind, together right across the Freedom tower was a breath taking experience. I can be feeling down and the best thing to do is grab my phone and go for a walk. The fresh air and the music can turn any day into a good day.

Five Favorites: Makeup July

As much as I LOVE trying new products I love turning back to my favorites. For the month of July I have been really enjoying light yet dewey make up with just the basics.

I have combination skin and I pick dewey over matte any day. The True Match Lumi foundation is perfect covers just enough. It is easy blend with a brush, beauty blender or simply just using your hands.

theBalm Mary-Lou Manizer AKA The Luminizer  Along with the dewey foundation I like to use this highlighter by theBalm to brighten up my cheek bones, brow bones and inner corner. This highlighter is perfect a great balance of shimmer and the consistency is buttery smooth.

L'Oreal Paris Voluminous Smoldering Eyeliner- Black Black eyeliner is an essential for every season! This one is easy to use to tight line, waterline and also the lash line. The smoldering Eyeliner is creamy, bold and easy to work with. Did I mention this eyeliner lasts forever, I have had it for about 6 months and it works just the same.

Buxom Amplified Lash Mascara This mascara is the coolest mascara! The wand actually expands and compacts so you can have a volumizing and  lengthening mascara all in one! I usually stick to drug store mascara but this one came with a set and was absolutely worth it.

Hard Candy Fox In A Box-Spicy & Sweet I have heard so many girls rave about Fox in a Box when Hard Candy first came out. I had to give it a try so I picked up this box blush and it truly is the perfect blush for summer time. Just light enough to give some color and sheen but enough to notice.

I hope you're all having a great summer!  Keeep Breathing!

Benefits of Rosewater

My skin has been looking dull lately, but I was tired of trying toners that would dry it out. I was talking to a friend and she recommended I use Rosewater.

So I decided to do some research, and  this is what I found:

  • Rosewater is one of the oldest holy grails in skin care.
  • It is rich in vitamins A, C, D, E & B3.
  • It can be used as a  brightening toner.
  • It can also be used as a hair conditioner.
  • And it smells GREAT.

So now all I had to do was to look for it.

I looked online and found one made by Josie Maran and another made by Jurlique.

The Rosey Mist- Refreshing Rose Water by Josie Maran ingredientsRosa Damascena Flower (Rose) Oil, Purified Water (Aqua), Sodium Benzoate, Gluconolactone, Polysorbate-20, Red 40 (CI#16035) (*Organic, **Natural)

Rosewater Balancing Mist by Jurlique ingredients- Water, Alcohol, Althaea Officinalis (Marshmallow) Root Extract, Rosa Gallica (Rose) Flower Extract, PEG-7 Glyceryl Cocoate, Fragrance (Parfum)*, Sodium Hydroxymethylglycinate, Lactic Acid, Polysorbate-20, Citrus Grandis (Grapefruit) Seed Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Geraniol*, Linalool*, Citronellol*, Eugenol*, Benzyl Benzoate.* *From Natural Essential Oil (Rose - Rosa Centifolia & Rosa Damascena).

I decided to go to a local store and see what other options they had and found a 8.25 oz bottle for about 3 dollars.

Hopefully this will hydrate and brighten my skin! I will keep you guys updated!

Starting Over.

So it's time to get serious and start blogging once again!

It's finally feeling like summer and I want to soak in all the sun I possibly can.  Four years ago college seemed like a long journey and now I have my degree... The biggest question I have to answer is NOW WHAT?

I guess we'll just have wait and see!

My first goal is to blog all the time. It feels like a daily diary and would be interesting to see look back and see what I was doing a year from now.

Valentine's Day Must Haves for a Night In

Valentine's day can also be a day to stay in whether it be with your girlfriends or your boyfriend. Alone or not it is always best to be comfortable! Anyone who knows me knows I would rather lounge around the house in comfy sweatpants than anything else. Whether you are with others or yourself there isn't a better day to treat yourself to a little at home spa!

Candles always make me feel warm and cozy! The scent, light and the flame just changes the whole atmosphere of the room, and did i mention it smells like you just walked into Abercrombie!

This comfy booties keep your feet warm in style!

Comfy yet CUTE sweats! Need I say more?

Baggy raglan tops are my favorite! They do not look as casual as a plain t-shirt and the material is light-weight and soft!

A hot bath and a hot book seem like a perfect  combination for a night in to relax.

This mask does WONDERS on my skin after I use it my skin just glows! I put it on 10-15 minutes before a hot shower and once the steam hits the dried mask I use it as a light exfoliate. This mask is definitely a holy grail product.  I just ran out and cannot wait to get another tub.

Hot chocolate or tea always taste better in a cute mug!

What am I doing on Valentine's Day you may ask?
After a long day of classes I will be super excited to come home get into a hot bath with a good book and hot tea. I am excited to pamper myself for myself with my mask, comfy sweats and something super good to eat. Took me long to realize it but we must love ourselves and learn to make ourselves feel good before we let others make us feel good.
I hope you have a fabulous Valentine's Day!

Valentine's Day: Part 1

Hellooo!
So we all know Valentine's Day is just a couple days away; the day of LOVE or LUST or LIKE! Whatever it may going out is always exciting and dressing up just makes it worthwhile. These are just my must haves for a night out whether it maybe be with a boyfriend or even with your girlfriends.

These studs are so cute and can accessorize any LBD. Forever21 has a handful of flower earrings in different colors, sizes and styles; they brighten up any outfit for less than 5 dollars.

I love my dark vampy nails but sometimes its fun to mix it up and go for a great nude pink which can brighten up any manicure.

A small crossbody bag to keep your cellphone, lip balm, and wallet is perfect instead of lugging around a huge bag full of things you don't need. A small crossbody is a staple in a girls closet whether its for a night out with friends, a date or even just running errands.

A lip and cheek stain both in one what more can a girl ask for? Benetint is a color which looks great on all skin tones and you can keep it sheer or build up the color. We all know guys hate lipstick so a stain can give you color and is smudge proof.

I had been lusting to own this floral yet sultry scent for the longest time. Its smells to die for and lasts all day!
The Notes:
Pink Peony, Freesia, Lychee, Magnolia Flower, Lilly of the Valley, Rose, Cedarwood, Amber, Honey.

I love the shade of mint and the height of these heels! They are perfect high enough to look classy but not too high to look trashy. Every girl needs a fun pair of simple pumps!

Rose Gold Watches have been all the rage and I adore them! You can stack the watch with other bracelet or even just wear it on its own. This one in particular is a great statement piece and the rhinestones add a great touch.

A little black dress with a unique back is a great way to show some skin but not too much.  A bright cardigan can add a great touch or a leather jacket can make the outfit edgy. Forever21 and UrbanOutfitters are my favorites stores to buy dresses.

What are your Valentine's Day Must Haves?
